Team Serbia wins the thriller against Spain in European Water Polo Championship Group C (12:11). A true clash of the titans.

The final score against the reigning European champions came with a price of brutality against one of Serbia’s top assets, Dušan Mandić, spinning the tables in front of home fans at the Belgrade Arena.
Spain started off with a 2-0. However, Serbia managed to bring their game forward, especially during the second half. Lead by goals of Strahinja Rašović and the strong defence of keeper debutant Milan Glušac between the posts. Things were looking up for the hosts.
The pace of the third quarter seemed perfectly Serbian, only to welcome incertitude in the final five minutes with Muárriz, Gomila and Biel keeping the Arena on their toes. Once again, Spain proved themselves as a worthy opponent.
Nevertheless, the brothers Rašović broke off the victory for Serbia. First, Strahinja used the additional player advantage for an equalizer (11:11). Then Viktor scored the winning goal at 12:11, marking the final score. Serbian fans were loud and proud in the final quarter, showing how much a difference can be made through the home crowd’s energy.
Coach Stevanović as well as all the players recognised the importance of fan support.
Team Serbia are now off to a well deserved rest and then they begin their focus towards Israel. The final match of Group C will determine the final group positioning ahead of the knockout stage. The Arena awaits fans on Wednesday at 20:30.
