Olympiacos are off to Belgrade! The Greek Red and Whites beat Monaco (94:88) for a spot at the Final Four!
Supported by a packed Peace and Friendship Arena, and more than a few prominent guests including Kevin Durant, the Greek squad managed to topple Monaco despite their first half rendition.
The squad of coach Saša Obradović were in the lead during the initial 20 minutes. Olympiacos had to fight to keep the dream alive for the home crowd.
The stakes were too high to not at least give it one last try. And try they did. The third quarter marks a turnaround for the Piraeus Red and Whites.
Their series begins fully by mid fourth quarter which they won 28:18. The final ten minutes represent the interval in which the home squad was fully dominant, hence breaking this nail-biter in their favor.
Led by McKissik (18p), Walkup (17p) and Sloukas (15p) Olympiacos are now two games away from the coveted Euroleague trophy.
Monaco’s side was held by the amazing James (24p), Lee (14p) and Bacon (12p).
As the flares were fired up the VIP guests took in one of the best crowds in European basketball.
The Final Four begins on May 19th in the Belgrade Arena.
