The wait is over! Partizan delivers a strong win at their Euroleague season opener against Armani (92:76) in Belgrade. The fans were loud and proud, giving their love to the squad.
Partizan found the perfect pace when it mattered most. Ending the 3/4 there was no dilemma in terns of the victors. The final ten minutes served as a chance for the Belgrade side to increase their advantage, despite Armani’s strong defensive efforts throughout the night. The guest side gave their final efforts in the 4/4, showing immense competitors spirit.
Partizan saved their best basketball for the fourth quarter, with Jones once again leading the way, finishing with a double-double of 20 pts and 10 assists. Right behind was Lamar Stevens, adding 11 points. Nikola Tanasković, Arijan Lakić and Alessandro Pajola each scored seven points as Partizan got valuable contributions from across the roster. The team play was the most important aspect of the victory, as confirmed by coach Peñarroya postgame.
This is the Black and White’s first home opening victory in the Euroleague since 2007, giving the fans a boost of optimism ahead of three away games that follow. However, coach Peñarroya insists this is only the start. A damn good one.
