Today marked the end of the last group stage competition day. Spain has barely won over Germany,  in a match where the host had a chance to get to extra time, using free throws. Sadly for the home fans, Dennis Schröder missed the third throw, allowing Spain to win by a point (77-76). In the B group, Serbia took the first spot, by a fifth win on the Championship, over Italy.

Russia is also going back home, despite beating Bosnia and Herzegovina by 81-61. Poland, Finland and Croatia are also moving into the knockout phase of the European championship, while Iceland, as the crowd favorite, will not be moving on, after a 0/5 score. Nevertheless, the Eurobasket debutants have shown a strong and stubborn approach to the game, which has to be duly appreciated.  Here are all of the pairings:

Saturday:
FRA – TUR
LAT – SLO

ESP – POL
GRE – BEL

Sunday:
SRB – FIN
CRO – CZE

ISR – ITA
LTU – GEO

The Eurobasket eight-finals will start at noon, and are to be played in the French city of Lille.
