Last night’s match between Partizan and Viktoria Plzen (1-1) was in fact marked by a woman. In what is a traditionally male sport, Greece’s Chrysoula Kourompylia made quite an impression.
Serbian news outlets have been raving about her good looks for days. But more importantly, her presence in the world of football is a refreshment and a reminder that women can be present and successful in every industry.
She is one of the very few female referees in men’s football and since starting her international career in 2008, Chrysoula has formed part of the Euro Cup in 2016 and the UCL and UEL qualifiers as assistant referee. She has also been a staple of Greek’s female football for years.
