The exciting race got us thinking that Katie Ledecky will be winning another gold medal. Yet the incredible Pellegrini  wasn’t having that.

She pushed through in the last 50 meters, leaving behind both Ledecky and McKeon, who shared the silver. A first ever world silver for Ledecky.

The quick pace by Pellegrini and her fantastic victory gained her the love of the crowd in Budapest. They cheered along the Italian national anthem.

This is Pellegrini’s 5th World gold medal in the Long Course.
