Sledi pregled četvrtog kola Jelen Superlige, odigranog proteklog vikenda.

A short interview after winning the title.

An amazing game performed by the Serbian National team, after a strong victory against Italy, in the semifinals of the Waterpolo World Championship in Kazan.

The Serbian Dolphins have performed almost perfectly against a well known opponent, giving Italy very little room to breathe. Serbia has started strong from the very beginning, and has enforced its own pace to the other side, while scoring a steady amount of goals, from all of the angles imaginable. Even the Italian fouls were not enough to disrupt the game style of the Dolphins. A routine, but powerful finish in the second half was all that it took to make the difference in this semifinal, official.

A kind of dance in the cold pool that from afar looked so routine to the players of coach Dejan Savić, giving the crowd a chance to see truly beautiful moves and scores by Andrija Prlainović, who scored barely 2 minutes in, Živko Gocić, Duško Pijetlović, and many, many more.  It seemed that all of the game aspects have come together tonight in Kazan, allowing the Dolphins to truly show off their magic.

The next opponent is Croatia, after a penalty shoot of 13-10, against a pleasantly surprising Greece. The final will be played on Saturday, at 21:00 CET, in what is undoubtably going to be a spectacle worthy of a World Championship closing game.

After a very good start, a conceded goal by the Romanian opponent, and a missed penalty in the second half, Partizan has managed to keep a steady pace and keep on scoring, until reaching a victory.

The final result was 4-2 for the Belgrade host. The scorers for Partizan were: Stefan Babović (8′), Marko Jevtović (60′), Andrija Živković (69′), after a very neatly performed action, and Nikola Trujić (92′), who scored the last goal of the game, only a few seconds after stepping onto the pitch.

Sofoklis Schortsanitis has expressed his enthusiasm for playing as a part of Crvena zvezda.  The red and white’s first signing of this transfer window is eager to show all of his skills in front of the Serbian fans.

“During each game that I wear the Red Star jersey, I will be giving a 110% of myself and my energy. I will fight for every point, and play with my heart, not only my body. So that my team can win in every match.  (…) I always had a special relationship with the fans. I’d like to state that the atmosphere that I felt and saw in Belgrade is something absolutely unique… Amazing, even. I can’ t wait to be a part of that.”

“Big Sofo” is most definitely not new to playing in front of big crowds and passionate fans. In his successful career, he has played for Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, both with extremely strong crowd presence, as well as Tel Aviv’s Maccabi.  For that, he is known to stay focused under pressure, while “giving hell” to the opposite side.

The strong center will be joining the team on August 23rd, but he already started individual trainings, to make sure he is in shape for the start of the new season.

Both team and fans have already welcomed him on social media.

The Serbian Water polo National Team is getting ready for their quarterfinal match, against the United States. The Dolphins have won all of their prior games, and have reached this next phase of the competition as first in their group. The awaited QF match will be played tomorrow, (Tuesday) at 20:30 CET, as the last match of the evening.

One of the biggest favorites for winning this year’s World championship in Kazan has played “a very good preparation match” against Croatia, before the big day.

The team members state that they won’t be falling under pressure after the statements made by the US coach, Dejan Udovičić, as well as the fact that victories aren’t guaranteed.  “We are the favorites, but that means nothing now. There can be no underestimating of the opponent. (…) Nobody will say much to them if they lose against Serbia, while our goal is the medal.”

The Serbian Water polo National team has its rival for the quarterfinals. The Dolphins will be playing against the United States, after their 7-3 victory against Brazil.  The current US coach, and former Serbian NT leader, Dejan Udovičić has pointed out the strength of the Serbian players: Serbia is the only team that we almost certainly cannot win against. This will be an important experience and an honor for us. It is just the reality, and I plan on giving the younger players a chance.

The match between Serbia and the US is to be played on Tue, at 20:30 (CET).

Meanwhile, the Serbian team will be training twice a day, to keep up their fitness before the important game. An element that team captain, Živko Gocić agrees on, while eliminating any possible result calculations: I don’t know if the others were doing it, or wanted to do it… For us, it’s a forbidden subject. We don’t talk about it.

The other QF pairs are:

Croatia vs. Montenegro; Greece vs. Australia; Hungary vs. Italy

U Savezu ističu da novi strateg Mlade selekcije poseduje: “ogromnu energiju i motiv, a u smeru stvaranja nove ekipe i željenih vrhunskih rezultata”. Sivićev prvi test na trenerskoj poziciji biće osmog septembra (8.9.) u Gornjem Milanovcu, protiv selekcije Litvanije.

Veljko Paunović, the former coach of the U20 Serbian National Team, and the current World Champion will be staying as part of the Serbian Football Association. Not as a coach, but as a coordinator between the U21 team, and the A-team. This position was created in order to maintain the young and successful football strategist within the Association, after him refusing to take over the U21, or stay with the next U20 generation.

The new coach of the U21 players was named today, and after an emergency vote, Tomislav Sivić was chosen with a majority of votes. According to the press release by the Football Association, the new coach possesses: “a vast energy and motives to create a new team and the desired excellent results”.

His first test comes on September 8th, as the U21 start their new qualifying cycle, against Lithuania.

Izabranici Dejana Savića su obezbedili sebi prvo mesto u grupi, i samim tim više odmora, dok čekaju svog narednog protivnika u nokaut fazi turnira.

The Serbian National team is now in the quarterfinals of the Waterpolo World Championship, after beating Australia 10-9. A victory that doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the reputation of the Serbs, but also represents a step closer to the desired goals. The players of coach Dejan Savić have reached the first place in their group B, and three days more of rest, as they wait for their next opponent. The winner in the match between Italy and the US. The extra days of rest might be a double-edged sword, considering that they can disturb the winning rhythm of the team. It is clear that there will be no time for relaxation, but for regrouping, and making sure not to repeat the same mistakes in the further stages of the competition.

This was the most demanding game for the Serbian Dolphins so far, but another proof of their class. After various difficulties, especially in the initial phases, they have managed to rise in the last quarter, and reach victory against a strong rival.

The most useful players of the Serbian team were: Filip Filipović, Stefan Mitrović and Milan Aleksić, scoring two goals each.
