Euroleague Top 10

Another week of great basketball gave us much to enjoy. Here are Euroleague’s top 10 moves of round 25. With everything at stake before the end of the group stage, tensions will undoubtedly run high.

We focus on the details of Euroleague’s 25th round, with teams such as Olympiacos, CSKA and Real Madrid marking the week. The beauty is in the details.

Zvezda beats a very motivated opponent for a step closer to the Euroleague Top8. Brose Bamberg played a solid match in Belgrade, using up Zvezda’s low points to score a series of 17 consecutive points. Nevertheless, the initial lead established by the Red and Whites ended up being enough for a win. With Jović unexpectedly out, the others were left up to pick up the slack. Including Jenkins and captain Luka Mitrović. Zvezda will be playing two more matches away.

Crvena zvezda MTS has beat Galatasaray by 77:58 in a match that was considered as high security risk, due to the 2014. murder of fan Marko Ivković in Istanbul. Nevertheless, the match ended smoothly in Belgrade, with an easy win for the red and whites. Despite their lack of 2p and 3p precision, Zvezda pulled through thanks to rebs and numerous steals. The MVP,  Branko Lazić (17p, PIR 23) managed to stay on top all of the categories, scoring 5/5 for 3p.

Crvena zvezda’s record breaking 7-0 series ended with the 8th. They lost to Efes by 72:86, despite the home court advantage. The players of coach Dejan Radonjić were expected to lose momentum at some point, after winning consecutively in both the Euroleague and ABA League. The point was reached tonight.

In my roaming around for some good highlights videos of Round 19, I learned that Crvena zvezda’s captain Luka Mitrović has had the best move of this Euroleague evening.

The young captain who got his title at only 20 (he is 23 now) has had his fair share of injuries, with the last one leaving his game far from the usual level.

Novi evroligaški skalp i rekordna sedma uzastopna pobeda.

Seven in a row! Crvena zvezda beats Panathinaikos by 72:66 in a red hot match played in Belgrade.  Despite lead, followed by the ups and downs in focus, the Red and Whites have gotten to the 4th quarter waiting for the win. The record breaking seven was celebrated in the packed Aleksandar Nikolić Hall. Zvezda is now officially 5th in the Euroleague standings.

After another week of great basketball, here are the final scores of the Euroleague round 18 and the current standings. Round 19 starts on Tuesday (24.1).

After a tense match in Tel Aviv, Maccabi lost to Zvezda by 67:71. The team from Belgrade showed off their possibilities even on one of the most demanding foreign grounds. The low point numbers in the first half is an example of a tough backing on both sides. Nevertheless, Maccabi’s mistakes ended up being overwhelming. Tonight’s top scorer Stefan Jović shot 14 points for a PIR of 15. MOTM, Ognjen Kuzmić had a PIR of 17.

In a home match, part of the 18th Euroleague round, CSKA Moscow has saved a win against Brose Bamberg by 85:64.

Despite not having their eyes on court, as Miloš Teodosić was allowed a break with signing autographs and meeting the fans, the Armeytsi were more than able to handle their opponent through the moves of Nando de Colo (26p, 31 PIR), and Kyle Hines (13p, 27 PIR).
