The renaissance of Bursaspor and coach Dušan Alimpijević continues as they move to their history-making Eurocup Final beating Andorra (85:68)!
Alimpijević, formerly best known for leading Red Star Belgrade as Euroleague’s youngest head coach is proving to be more than a promising talent. Often disputed for his age, the 36 year-old coach has settled well into his position at Bursa. Their road to the semis was paved in Belgrade by beating Partizan on home grounds in the packed Arena.
Bursaspor were handling tonight’s match with nerves of steel. They wanted no regrets after tonight. Bursa annulled Andorra’s good start and a minimal lead, fighting strongly and pacing themselves towards halftime. Andrews scored 20 points, while Pauli had 16 for the hosts in blue.
Andorra kept slipping up and simply ran out of luck as Bursa got to +23 in the Q4. Despite tonight’s defeat Andorra exceded the expectations for the season.
An interesting pairing is shaping up for this Eurocup final (May 11th). The first finalists now await their last opponent. The second semifinal match will be played tomorrow with Valencia hoping to topple Virtus for a ticket to the title-winning match and the chance at the Euroleague.
