Red Star’s best yet

In a match seen as the perfect example of how to play, Red Star defeated Maccabi by 83:58. The advantage, which rose up to 31pts in the 3rd quarter, was undeniable and thanks to an amazingly energetic offense and a strong defense, the winner was obvious after the first twenty minutes.  Hopes are high for the next match in Belgrade, against Real Madrid.

The always necessary daily dose of inspiration. To me, it is these boys. Serbia’s waterpolo National Team. Aside from athletic inspiration, the Dolphins represent an example of commitment, dedication and hard work that really does pay off.

I took this image last winter, on the European Championship, played right here in Belgrade. On which, Serbia won… You’ve guessed it, gold.

Olympiacos BC has beat its greatest rival. The long awaited Panathinaikos – Olympiacos derby ended in favor of the red and whites (77:79) at the green’s home court of Oaka.

Simonović slams for the win

After a grueling week, Red Star has managed to score a second consecutive Euroleague win in four days’ time.  Lead by Marko Simonović (23p) beat Armani by 83:70 on home grounds of the Belgrade Arena.

Serbia’s U21 team has made it into the European Championship, where they will be defending the title. The players and coaches are hopeful, despite tonight’s defeat by 1:0 to Norway.

Srpski igrači dominiraju Evroligom

As every week, Euroleague listed up this round’s top 10 moves. It’s not surprising that most of the list was dominated by Serbian players, including the first place that belongs to Miloš Teodosić .

I always enjoy seeing the varied conditions in which people show off their sporting skills. Sometimes it’s an insane pitch in the middle of nowhere, or maybe a mini-island, dedicated to football alone. Today’s inspiration, the 5-A pitches of Manchester.

The new and improved version of the site

Some of the better known features, such as multilingual posts are here to stay, this time with a more comprehensive layout, a cleaner look, and most important of all, a brand new name.

Since this is a blog written by someone who spends most of her time around a pitch, closer to the sidelines, and since blogging lets me take all of you there with me… Sideline it is.

It’s an absolute pleasure (and an occasional torturous wifi moment, if we’re being honest), to bring anyone to the sidelines of a sporting event, willing to take a look, and potentially  see a match or a team from a slightly different angle than expected.

As always, your support through likes, shares and follows means a lot, so I thank you.

Now buckle up, people. We’re just getting started.

Red Star beats Barcelona by 76:65 in a match filled with ups and downs. This victory comes on the same day as the confirmation of the F4 Tournament being played in Belgrade in 2018. A victory lead by the joint efforts of individuals that made up for some general errors. Tonight’s MVP is one of the youngest. Twenty one year-old Marko Guduric scored as many points, with a PIR of 30.

It’s official! The Euroleague Final Four of the upcoming (2017/18) season will be played in Belgrade, Serbia.

The newly refurbished Belgrade Arena, just for the purposes of basketball, will be the home of the most prestigious European club basketball final, hosting only the best of the best. The news was officiated today by Euroleague’s head Jordi Bertomeu, after rumors circuling during the past week.
