One of water polo’s most beloved pairings has officially retired from the National Team. Slobodan Nikić and teammate Živko Gocić have played their last match as Dolphins at the Tašmajdan pool in Belgrade, Serbia.
Omiljeni kumovi srpskog vaterpola Živko Gocić i Slobodan Nikić, oprostili su se večeras od reprezentativnog sporta. Srpski kapiten i najtrofejniji vaterpolista u istoriji, na Tašmajdanu odigrali su poslednju utakmicu pod zastavom Srbije. Prijateljski meč između naše selekcije i Tima sveta, pratilo je puno plivalište.

Vaterpolisti Srbije krenuli su u novi pohod na Svetsku ligu. Desetostruki šampioni ovog takmičenja, u prvom preliminarnom meču su se suočili sa reprezentacijom Rumunije. O pobedi u Kragujevcu (19:8) nije bilo dileme.

Vaterpolo klub Crvena zvezda predstavljao je simbol preporoda srpskog klupskog sporta. Međutim, crveno-beli su zbog lošeg finansijskog stanja bili prinuđeni da napuste Beograd u potrazi za novim i povoljnijim ,,domaćim” terenom.
Red Star’s water polo team has moved from their Belgrade HQ. Due to a huge financial tole the club has been facing in the past three years, the Champions of 2013 have moved their “home court” to the city of Zrenjanin, about 80km away from the country’s capital. This set of events is only the last one to show the truly devastating condition of Serbia’s most prized sport. With a reminder that it is the home of the Olympic Champions.
Nakon prošlogodišnjeg osvajanja svetske krune, srpski juniori nastavili su stopama svojih starijih kolega. Ekipa Vladimira Vujasinovića od danas je i Evropski šampion u vaterpolu.
Kada je reč o srpskom vaterpolu, rezultatskih uspona i padova gotovo da nema. Ide se na centar podijuma i najsjajnije odličje. Nakon jednog, usledi drugo, treće i tako u krug. Ide se dotle da je dovoljno gledati krajnji rezultat. Pobeda se nikada ne dovodi u pitanje. Tako su treneri naučili njih, a oni nas. Međutim, finansijske nesigurnosti, sastavni su deo našeg najtrofejnijeg sporta. Kao lopta ili kapica.
Delfini su zvanično šampioni svega osvojivog! Ekipa Dejana Savića osvojila je zlatnu olimpijsku medalju pobedom nad Hrvatskom od 11:7. Možda se publike neće sećati svih detalja sa turnira u Riju, ali je ova medalja večna.
Serbia has won it all! The World and European Champions have now added themselves the last one that was missing. The Olympic gold medal is now around Serbia’s Dolphin’s necks. Their first independent gold medal, and the first one for the country on the Games after 2008. And what a way to win it! A 11:7 against the reigning champions of Croatia. The excellence is complete!
Delfini su u finalu! Lako je savladana selekcija Italije i izborena šansa za prvo (samostalno) olimpijsko zlato. Briljirali su igrači Dejan Savića, o čemu je svedočila i prvobitna serija od 5:0.

In their best match yet, Serbia beats Spain for a spot in the Mens Water polo Semifinals. A 10:7 win was marked by a solid standing in all the aspects of the Serbian strategy, while it is now clear that the World and European Champions are ready in Rio.
